Critical Resistance is a national organization dedicated to abolishing the prison-industrial complex, envisioning and building humane alternatives to policing, imprisonment, and surveillance through grassroots organizing and movement-building.
Volunteers (many directly impacted by the system) work with Critical Resistance by organizing campaigns to stop jail and prison construction in their cities, hosting community discussions on abolition and transformative justice, writing letters to incarcerated people and including their voices in organizing, and participating in direct actions and coalitions that demand divestment from policing and investment in community resources.
