The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) is a nonprofit law organization founded by Bryan Stevenson that provides legal representation to prisoners who may have been wrongly convicted or unfairly sentenced, and works to end mass incarceration and racial inequity in the justice system.

Volunteers support EJI by visiting and writing to incarcerated individuals through EJI’s initiatives, helping organize local exhibits or discussions based on EJI’s research (such as lynching memorial projects or jail exhibit), disseminating EJI reports on racial injustice to educators and community leaders, and fundraising to sustain EJI’s legal and education programs.
